How the base works

The sand goes. Everything else stays.

The base of the Sunday Tote is a rigid panel on a waterproof zip that runs the full perimeter of the bag. Unzip it and it swings open on its hinge. It stays attached, so there is nothing to lose.

Above it is a fixed mesh floor. That floor never opens. Your towel, your book and your sandals rest on it the way they would in any bag, and sand falls through it onto the closed panel below.

Unzip it over the sand and it empties right there. Everything smaller than the mesh leaves. Everything bigger stays.

What it holds

Thirty litres: two rolled beach towels, a 32oz bottle, sunscreen, a paperback, sandals, and room for whatever you pick up on the way home. It is the size most people already carry, on purpose.

What it is not

It is not a submersible dry bag. The top is open, because a roll-top on a beach tote is a feature you stop using by the second week. The fabric and every seam are waterproof; the opening is not. For phone and keys in the water, that is what the 5 L Mini is for, and it clips inside this one.

Before you order.

How do you get sand out of a beach bag?
In most bags you cannot, because the bottom is a flat stitched panel and the sand packs into the corner seams where shaking will not reach it. The Sunday Tote's base unzips over a fixed mesh floor, so opening it lets the sand fall out through the mesh while everything larger stays above it.
Will my things fall out of the bottom?
No. The mesh floor is fixed and never opens. Only the outer panel unzips, and it stays hinged to the bag.
Is it fully waterproof, or water-resistant?
The fabric and every seam are waterproof. The top is open, so it is not a submersible dry bag: rain, spray and a wet floor are fine, holding it underwater is not. For phone and keys in the water, use the 5 L Mini, which has a waterproof zip and clips inside this bag.
How do I clean it?
Rinse with fresh water and wipe with a cloth. The TPU face is non-porous, so sunscreen, salt and food come straight off. Do not machine wash and do not tumble dry. Heat is what welds the seams, and heat is what will unweld them.
Can I put a wet swimsuit in it?
Yes. Nothing inside the bag will soak through to your car seat. Hang it open afterwards so the inside dries.
